Vintage cars & bikes galore... Poona April 9th. 2023...


Long awaited Vintage vehicle display of awesommmm antique and not so antique cars and 2 wheelers... 

I am a novice I visited only for my love and curiosity of seeing old classics in tip top condition...
Was a well rewarded day as got to see some unique and quaint old bikes...
Year of manufacture was 1918... this is the oldest prize winning 2 wheeler on display... And working...
This one was made only to race and sure enough it also won plenty recognition today...

The car won an accolade...
That's my friend's amazing machine that was driven all the way from Mumbai ...

I prefer the old models they are a treasure & pleasure to view...

 This one is a dream ride on the roads ...


Some more racy reds... I wonder why the colour red for these beauties that are totally impractical for Indian roads...

This leading lady sure is an eyeball grabber...

The simple clean sleek dashboard and steering wheel was an eye catcher for me.

On a long ride would be getting Extra heated...
2 twin winners ... The other one (no.87) has a hand gear shift on the right side... Saw it for the first time in my life... Not practical for long rides...very strenuous and tiring.

A better view of the hand gear... (its the golden knob) and the owner is standing in the front of the bike.
For all Harley fans... Here is another eye catcher...

Ready for our holidays to take off... Landed in Bangalore My daughter and I started our holiday to South India with a red eye flight to Bangalore on 15th early morning ...   In Bangalore we booked an uber from the airport since Ola taxis were far more expensive than the latter ... So We landed at MM's home at 5am and were greeted vv warmly at that early early hour by MM & DU ... had some choi and chatted till 6.30 am and then it was shut eye till noon... The same day was an easy day with meeting friend's in the evening at the most happening club ... 17th.early morning we left for Mysore with my dost K from my biking group... we met last year and kind of mutually decided that we like to spend time with each other and can tolerate each other's differences too ... so this year since I was coming to B'lore with my daughter and bestie , I thought a small quick 2 nights 3 days trip will calm the gypsy within

Zoroastrianism settlement that were there in Parsiwada...Diu...

So it was first on my list to hunt down... Thankfully the first person I asked for help was very happy to have met 2 parsees in his hometown... He volunteered to take us triple seat on his Enfield to the above 2 places... The Fire temple has been converted into a temple of learning for the past 25 years... Prior to that I was informed that for over 60 or 70 years the place had shut down as Zarthostis had left the place way back... No worshippers no Fire temple and Dakhmu is like a picnic spot... The Dakhmu or Cemetery shut probably 80 years back Below are my picture story of a community that is still very very fondly remembered by the locals... The Fire Temple that was... Remanats of a vibrant past...

Elephanta at 52...

Mondays Elephanta is closed This visit was long long long over due... was worth the wait for me... I am a person who suffers from motion sickness and so does  my friend who agreed to come with me  We managed to get our seats on the ferry to Elephanta very easily and quickly... it was an hour's ride to the place and tkt cost ₹260 (return) The ride on the boat was smooth sailing... the life jackets are on the roof ! a cherished family holiday on Costa cruise line in Dec of 2018 (Maldives to Mumbai) Toilet with a view happy memories with SCI... that is Elephanta island... the elephant is not there any more. Docking in at the jetty Once there you can take the train ride for (₹18) and some govt. entrance tkt (₹5)  Train ticket At this place We purchased the guide book (₹ 180) instead of hiring a guide.
