Bhuj Agiary and Jamnagar agiary


Visited Bhuj and Jamnagar Agiaries now non operational... 
Due to lack of worshippers...

I was told only 1 family in Bhuj is looking after the place and they stay in Ahmedabad...
Bhuj agiary premise is well looked after by Mr.Abu Bakar...

Whereas in Jamnagar there are 5 families and all are mostly senior citizens

The Jamnagar Agiary is looked after by Mr.Sarosh Daruwalla as care taker of the premise and Mr.Wadia the trustee.

Also was shown the insides of Bhuj house too...

Inspite of the Bhuj Earthquake couldnt see much damage to the premise or walls.



There are 4 of these that were on the roof till the devastating earth quake of Bhuj... When they fell down and now adorn the 4 corners of the premise...

    What anefort to travel to all three locations and capturing

    Had stayed in Bhuj house 5 years ago when we visited Rann of Kutch and that time Khurshed Anklesaria who was also the manager of Bhuj house used to take care of Bhuj agiary. Sad to know that it's being looked after by a non Parsi

      Dont be sad AtashPadsha saheb no longer there... And Mr.Abu Bakar is doing a wonderful job as caretaker of the property.

Ready for our holidays to take off... Landed in Bangalore My daughter and I started our holiday to South India with a red eye flight to Bangalore on 15th early morning ...   In Bangalore we booked an uber from the airport since Ola taxis were far more expensive than the latter ... Zoroastrianism settlement that were there in Parsiwada...Diu...

So it was first on my list to hunt down... Thankfully the first person I asked for help was very happy to have met 2 parsees in his hometown... He volunteered to take us triple seat on his Enfield to the above 2 places... The Fire temple has been converted into a temple of learning for the past 25 years... Prior to that I was informed that for over 60 or 70 years the place had shut down as Zarthostis had left the place way back... No worshippers no Fire temple and Dakhmu is like a picnic spot... The Dakhmu or Cemetery shut probably 80 years back Below are my picture story of a community that is still very very fondly remembered by the locals... The Fire Temple that was... Remanats of a vibrant past...

Elephanta at 52...

Mondays Elephanta is closed This visit was long long long over due... was worth the wait for me... I am a person who suffers from motion sickness and so does  my friend who agreed to come with me  We managed to get our seats on the ferry to Elephanta very easily and quickly... it was an hour's ride to the place and tkt cost ₹260 (return) The ride on the boat was smooth sailing... the life jackets are on the roof ! a cherished family holiday on Costa cruise line in Dec of 2018 (Maldives to Mumbai) Toilet with a view happy memories with SCI... that is Elephanta island... the elephant is not there any more. Docking in at the jetty Once there you can take the train ride for (₹18) and some govt. entrance tkt (₹5)  Train ticket At this place We purchased the guide book (₹ 180) instead of hiring a guide.
